The Book Club book

With a setting between the US (New England) and London, On Beauty follows a pair of feuding families - the Belseys and the Kipps - at a liberal arts college on the US east coast.  The Kipps are British-Trinidanian and dignified, whereas the Belseys are British-American and chaotic. 

Professor Howard Belsey has been married for thirty years to Kiki, an American who was once an activist. Their three children passionately and enthusiastically are embarking on life, leaving Howard feeling like something is missing in his.  When the Belsey's eldest son Howard meets Victoria, the attractive daughter of the right-wing icon Monty Kipps, the two families find themselves clashing, culturally and personally.
